Youth Travel in Taiwan

Youth Travel Spots
Since 2009, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education has collaborated with non-profit organizations and universities and colleges to establish Youth Travel Spots throughout Taiwan and provide youth with year-long regular and comprehensive services in Taiwan such as travel inquiries, temporary backpackstorage, guided tours, etc. Seven major types of themed experiential learning tours focusing on cultures, tribes, ecology, rural areas, fishing villages, volunteer, and fitness are offered to youth to learn and experience various activities. Youth will learn about the unique characteristics and stories of communities and experience the life and culture of Taiwan. These tours will also increase pathways and opportunities for youth experiential learning travels. Every Youth Travel Spot has its own rich life story waiting for you to discover, experience, and learn.

Trekking Taiwan-Creative Tour
Since 2005, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education has collaborated with non-profit organizations to experimentally plan a themed series of "Trekking Taiwan" targeted for youth aged 15-30 year-olds. Comprehensive guidance will help youth experience Taiwan from different perspectives and be encouraged to participate in various public discussions. Youth will also cultivate a sense of identity and responsibility for Taiwan and actively care and treasure Taiwan.

Find Touching Map
Since 2009, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education started the "Youth Travel In Taiwan - Find Touching Map" programto encourage youth to combine creative thinking and various ways of traveling in Taiwan to make their travel dreams turn into realities. Youth will plan their own trips that will be unique, creative, possess themes or issues, interact with social and cultural aspects of the locals, and integrate elements of public service. The selected winners will receive partial subsidies. From 2009-2014, a total of 235 youth groups have completed their dreams of traveling in Taiwan.

International Experiential Learning
In order to enhance youth their international perspectives and strengthen global mobility, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education is promoting universities and colleges to incorporate the gap year concept into classes. Through working holidays, study tours, independent travels, voluntourism, and experiential travels, youth are encouraged to travel overseas for experiential learning as well as explore and understand themselves, enrich life experiences, and cultivate independence. Starting from 2014, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education has been promoting universities and colleges to encourage students to travel abroad for international experiential learning pilot programs. These systematically planned and designed programs will help extend multiplepathways for youth international experiential learning.
