Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education conducts "Youth Experiential Learning" to encourage high school graduates to enjoy experience learning. Students have to learn to propose a plan, and conduct domestic or international self-learning schedule for 2 or 3 years, throughout this process, students explore their interests and find out what their passion might be for the future. Experience learning includes volunteer services, tour exploration, apprenticeship, and entrepreneurial trainee. Bing-Jun, Cai, who participated in the project in 2018, practiced a soccer dream in Spain.
"Bing-Jun had never left home before high school, it is indeed precious to have this chance to visit Spanish Soccer School and play soccer with the young people from all over the world. He has been motivated to improve his competitiveness after seeing so many other competitors around the world.” Bing-Jun, Cai’s Father, Wen-Jia,Cai, shared this with us with gratitude, "After Bing-Jun got trained in physical fitness, language, and international horizon, Bing-Jun has become independent. Even it was cruel and difficult, it is inevitable for the process of learning." Bing-Jun, Cai graduated from National Pingtung Senior High School in 2018. After 10 months of participation in "Youth Experiential Learning", he has become a young man with great progress in all aspects in his father's heart.
Bing-Jun, Cai has been curious about all kinds of affairs since childhood, and has developed workout habits. From middle school to high school, he often plays soccer with his classmates in his spare time, builds a profound friendship, and makes friends with like-minded players at various stadiums. He said that his parents only ask him and his elder brother for two things- stay healthy and have positive concepts in life. When he learned that Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education encouraged the spirit of learning by experiencing, he began to apply for the program; hoping to visit the soccer motherland – Spain. In addition to football knowledge and skills, he is eager to learn soccer-related history, culture and future development. His goal is to build solid foundation in the soccer field and become a soccer player with skills and knowledge.
Andres Football School is located in Valencia, Spain. Bing-Jun, Cai has gradually become more accustomed to the living pace and having dinner at 9 in the evening after a few months. He found that any job in Spain is respected; no one considers a job futureless, and nobody gets involved in the children’s career choice. Bing-Jun, Cai said that one thing that surprised him was that the coach did not tell the players what to do, but asked "What do you think you can do?" There are solutions provided in textbooks and by teachers growing up in Bing-Jun, Cai’s learning process. However, here in Spain, you need to rely on your own understanding and self-adjustment. To reach better, you have to work hard and figure out how you want to do it.
During the first few months in Spain, in addition to the lack of soccer skills, the other biggest obstacle Cai encountered was the Spanish language. The local speak way too fast for him to understand, and all the misunderstandings caused by accent differences. "What I can do is to practice more and improve my own standards. I have become more independent and braver than before. I also learned to calmly face various situations. There are advantages and disadvantages staying here, but I must face everything and adapt to all situations in this foreign country.” This is the attitude of Bing-Jun, Cai in response to challenges.
