In order to encourage more youth to participate in local development and community public affairs, the Youth Development Administration of the Ministry of Education conduct the “Youth Community Participation and Action 2.0—Changemaker Project”, not only provides incentives and action funds, but also arranges mentors, expert consultations, youth gatherings and joint learning and other resources; in addition, hold an annual achievement exhibition to provide a platform for teams to display the results of local hard work and communicate with each other, in order to help the youth team on the road of Regional Revitalization can be more smoothly and long-term. Whether on Taiwan's main island or outlying islands, there are youth teams using their creativity and expertise to bring new possibilities to the local area. In 2023 who won the Actor team golden award “嶼感行為” feel that few people understand the cultural significance of the Penghu Lantern Festival, so they started to explore the cultural and historical context of the praying for turtles during Lantern Festival, and used their professional field skills to draw and paint the Lantern Festival turtles, assisting with temple decoration techniques, thereby promoting local culture. At the same time, they cooperating with Zhongzheng Elementary School in the Sanjia Village, invited teachers from the community to teach, let the culture of praying for turtles translated into abounding and interesting course themes, so that the culture of praying for turtles during the Lantern Festival can continue to remain in the memories and lives of ordinary people.
The team “社團法人籿苗教育發展協會” who won the 2023 Sinyi Realty-We are ONE Changemaker team award, observed the conditions of the local adolescent girls marriage, pregnant, or complicated family relationships, these leads to confusion about the development of adolescent girl's own career. The team has been rooted in the local area since 2018, and proposed the “大南澳青少女人才培育孵化計畫” with the front-line education experience, assisting young girls in vocational training and accompany them to find suitable development fields. They also organized camps and mutual aid gatherings to connect local resources and provide work internship opportunities, so that the confused young girls can support each other and find the possibility of career development.
Since the launch of the Changemaker project, about 650 wonderful action stories have been accumulated across the country. The project is divided into Actor and Changemaker teams based on the youth's experience in community action. The Actor team can receive up to NT$200,000 in action funds, and the Changemaker team can receive up to NT$300,000 in action funds. Those whose actual actions are reviewed and selected will receive bonuses of up to NT$150,000 and NT$200,000. In addition, this year YDA continued to cooperate with “Sinyi Realty- Community Building Project“, provided a funding of NT$600,000 by Sinyi Realty to support youth to continue to work in local areas. Through public-private collaboration, work together to promote youth involvement in community affairs.
Youth aged 18 to 35 are welcome to form a team of 2 to 5 people to take practical actions to care for their hometown land, turn creativity and dreams into possibilities, and allow the community to continue to be revitalized and developed. The YDA hopes that through the support of the project, more youth will be encouraged to care about local communities and become a new driving force for local development.
