The Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education, will continue to organize the “2024 Youth Hub Dream Idea Awards Challenge” this year with the aim of encouraging young people to turn their creativity into concrete actions, and to explore the potential of young people for regional revitalization. Participants who have completed at least one local course this year, or are students of the current year's on-site fieldwork, may submit a complete Dream Idea proposal combining what they have learned with their creativity to the website of the Youth Community Participation and Action (https://changemaker.yda.gov.tw/) on or before October 14, 2024, and put forward specific action ideas to address the community's invisible needs or future development. The award winner will receive a NT$10,000 prize coupon and a certificate of merit.
Among last year's (2023) Dream Idea proposals, many young people injected new impetus into their hometowns with enthusiasm and creativity. A group of young people who moved to Toucheng, Yilan, put forward their “Yilan's Mountain and Sea Local Lifestyle Project”(蘭山蘭海在地生活提案), designing a series of in-depth experiential programs integrating the five themes of rivers, mountains, oceans, villages, and islands. In addition to recognizing the richness of local natural resources and connecting with local communities, they also helped to deepen the students' sense of identity with the place. The “Starting from the Heart, Returning to the Basics”(從心出發-酸柑青年『返璞』) project was designed by the youth of Yuli, Hualien, which combined local natural resources with spiritual healing to create the “Everyday Life Under the Mountain – A Journey of Purifying the Six Roots of Sensation,”(山腳下的日常-六根清淨之旅) in which participants could relax and savor nature while walking along the streams, and finding inner peace during the experiences. The program also attracts young people to work and live in Yuli, bringing new economic opportunities and lifestyles.
The above two proposals were recognized with Dream Idea merit after a three-stage review, and these young people's proposals have been selected for the Youth Community Participation and Action 2.0 – Changemaker Project this year, enabling these proposals to be brought to fruition, demonstrating the creativity and operational capabilities of young people, and injecting new vitality into the local community. The 15 outstanding teams awarded this year will not only receive cash prizes, but will also be honored at the “Youth Community Participation and Action 2.0 – Changemaker Project” Achievement Exhibition to be held on December 14-15 in Taipei City's Songshan Cultural and Creative Park.
