The Youth Development Administration （YDA） of the Ministry of Education encourages youth to engage in volunteering, and implements the “Self-Formed Youth Volunteer Team Funding” to assist youth to use their expertise to care for society through practical actions. To expand youth engagement in volunteering from various perspectives, the YDA has established 12 Youth Volunteer Service Center across the country, which organize more than 100 volunteer training sessions and diverse aspects thematic service programs each year, aim to encourage youth to embody the spirit of volunteerism and join the ranks of volunteers.
On the eve of the Lunar New Year this year, the Youth Volunteer Service Center organized a year-end cleaning and renewal service programs in conjunction with the arrival of the New Year. On January 22, the Taipei-Keelung Volunteer Center launched the “Omnipotent Youth-Player One Companion Service” service program, using VR to allow youth volunteers to experience and understand the ecological environment of Keelung Neiliao Wetland, and to understand the importance of environmental conservation, also lead youth volunteers to do a guide tour of Neiliao Wetland, learn about the local animals and plants there, and help remove weeds. Hope that volunteers can accompany the children in the community to protect the ecological environment of their hometown. The Kaohsiung-Penghu Volunteer Center in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Nanzi and Longhwa Public Retail Market, launched the “Environmental Education x Environmental Sustainability-Safely Prepare New Year's Goods for Family” service program on January 21 and 23. By encouraging high school and vocational school youth volunteers from nearby school districts to enter the market, and clean up the market with practical actions, let youth volunteers understand the importance of community environmental maintenance for environmental sustainability, and work together to create a clean and comfortable market environment. It also symbolizes “out with the old, in with the new”, hoping to bring good luck and new atmosphere to the market.
The Youth Volunteer Center is a local volunteer consultation station set up in the region by the YDA, providing a channel for youth who are interested in becoming youth volunteers of matching, forming teams and assisting in developing volunteer service projects. The main functions of the center include training youth volunteers, providing counseling to the team on service projects and consulting advice, coordinating with local organizations, developing and organizing themed service projects for public participation, etc. Through the center's diverse service functions, hope to expand the local volunteer community network and demonstrate the value of youth volunteers providing local services.
