In order to let young people understand how different countries help youth to participate in volunteer affairs and to be a volunteer, Youth Development Administration, the Ministry of Education (YDA) offers the chance to visit different foreign volunteer organizations overseas for the representatives who get the first and second prize of outstanding youth volunteer team, in the meantime, sharing the serving experiences to foreign youths. This can motivate the ability of offering service, expand youth horizon, and extend the capability when offering service. This year(2016), the learning overseas visiting team visited Singapore.
The development of Singapore is closed to Taiwan, and the NPOs’ in Singapore are focus on the public issues. They care the problems of aged society, underprivileged people and try to find solutions to offer voluntary services. The aim of the government and the NPOs’ create Singapore a fair society, and even form a progressive, energetic power in society.
This year(2016), two staffs of YDA, seven representatives who place first, and second in four types of awarded youth volunteer teams in Youth Volunteer competition visited five Singapore voluntary organizations from July 18th to July 22nd , including, Dignity Kitchen, Singapore Red Cross, Nanyang Technological University, Marine Parade Family Service Center and YWCA of Singapore.
The members interact with different voluntary organizations, and learn how to get balanced between being a student and being a volunteer from Singapore youths.
Youth volunteers who attended this activity were satisfied, and expressed that it’s a good way to learn many different experiences from different country, different people. And it can make young people expand horizon, share the experience, and check whether we can improve the methods when we service, even build the bridge to cooperate with each other.
