In order to help young people know the operation of the government, and to help them accumulate work experience, Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education cooperated with the central government and its auxiliary on "Government Internship Program for College Students", which provides college students a variety kinds of internship in the government.
In the first batch of the program (April to May), there were 111 college students participated and interned in 17 different institutions. Ms. Chien, shu-hua, from of the Department of Chinese Literature of the National Chung Hsing University was one of them. She interned at Central Taiwan Office, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, mainly helping people fill the form for applying passports. During her internship, she had to face different types of people and a lot of situations and to enhance emotional intelligence and patience accordingly. Although it took a lot of effort, every time she got a “thanks” from people, she felt her hard work worth. For her, the internship not only meant gaining money, but provides her with the opportunity to grow and learn .
Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education provides 450 to 550 opportunities this year, and the hourly wage for the internship is NT140 per hour.
