In order to help young people know the operation of the government, and to help them accumulate work experience, Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education cooperated with the central government and its auxiliaries on "Government Internship Program for College Students", which provides college students a variety kinds of internship in the government.
Tsao Chieh, studied at School of Law, Soochow University, chose to join “Taoyuan International Airport Border Affairs Team 2” of National Immigration Agency Border Affairs Corps in July and August, 2018. Her main business included overseas inspection, entry and exit control, detection of human smuggling. In addition to the field work of assisting passengers to use the e-Gate Enrollment System, there are also documents transmission and filing in the office . During the field internship, Tsao Chieh often encountered passengers seeking the operation assistance of the e-Gate Enrollment System, and some foreign passengers even try to communicate with her with body language. Therefore, she often had to train her reaction ability and grasp the language conversion between Chinese, Taiwanese, Korean, Japanese and English.
Besides, Tsao Chieh also mentioned that EQ management is very important. Some passengers may be unrecognizable due to changes in body shape or fingerprints being worn away, then passengers may be emotional because of being checked.It is the time to test the wisdom and EQ management of service personnel.
Finally, Tsao Chieh believed that no matter what industry she was engaged in or what she was doing, during her internship,she needed to have a good attitude, empathy and smile. She realized that the feedback from her clients (passengers) gave her the impetus to keep moving forward.
The third batch of 2018 (October-November) is coming to an end. Students who want to have a better understanding of the operation of the central authorities, broaden their career horizons and learn from the experience of public administration during the school year can seize the probation opportunities of 2019.
