In order to help young people know the operation of the government, and to help them accumulate work experience, Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education cooperated with the central government and its auxiliary on "Government Internship Program for College Students", which provides college students a variety kinds of internship in the government.
Chen Ting- Yu, from National United University, Department of Chinese Language and Literature, chose to participate in the National Taxation Bureau of Northern Area (Hsinchu Branch), Ministry of Finance in July and August, 2018 in order to know the operation of the government. During her internship, she had to assist aliens with filing individual income tax, reconfirming the documents they filed, filing the data and assisting ordinary people with the declaration.
Ms. Chen mentioned that it is important to promote yourself before the internship. Applicants not only need to highlight their personal characteristics in the resume but also need to do an analysis of the connection between their personal characteristics and work. In this way, applicants can find out the indispensable value of job suitability and plan their career in advance. After entering the National Taxation Bureau of Northern Area (Hsinchu Branch), MS. Chen got to know more about the new things which were different from what she had learned at school. Therefore, she encourages students to cultivate the habit of taking notes because it can help to understand the work quickly and also improve the efficiency of the overall work.
In addition, Ms. Chen also mentioned when assisting aliens with filing individual income tax, she needed to develop the habit of reconfirming the documents carefully so that she could efficiently reduce the error rate. After she did the internship, she realized even though it is a mechanical work, she still needs to be well prepared, finds the passion for work and hold the opportunities to enrich and get to know more about herself.
