In order to help young people know the operation of the government, and to help them accumulate work experience, Youth Development Administration, Ministry of Education cooperated with the central government and its affiliated units on "Government Internship Program for College Students", which provides college students a variety kinds of internship in the government. Chang Hsuan Ni, from National Chung Cheng University, Department of Adult and Continuing Education, chose to intern at Kaohsiung Motor Vehicle Office of Directorate General of Highways. During the internship, she had to assistto promote motor vehicle business and conduct a performance appraisal. In addition, she also needed to manage social media, discuss and design the office yearly calendar, assist phone operators, publicize activities and observe and learn from visiting group.
Miss Chang mentioned that besides interning at her original sector, Secretariat Office, she also got a chance to intern at Vehicle Management Section, Driver’s Licenses Section, Planning and Vehicle Penalty section and Information Counter. Working at different sectors made her realize that she not only needed to enhance communication ability but also needed to boost her objection handling skill and responesse capability when serving people. These learning experiences was different from what she had learned at her original section. Furthermore, Miss Chang mentioned that the PowerPoint skill she had learned at school also helped her arrange and manage Fanpage and make an organizational chart. She understood that although we would not see the effect immediately on the skills we leaned and cultivated in the past, these were still an essential part of nutrition for our growth.
Finally, Miss Chang said that her supervisor had told her no matter what kind of things you do, you must know your purpose and clearly understand the goal you pursue. In this way, when you face challenges, you won’t find answers aimlessly.
