The Youth Development Administration launched a program aiming at subsidizing colleges and universities for career development services in 2019 based on the strengths of schools and the needs of students so as to develop diversified and innovative approaches to career development and strengthen student’s competitiveness. Tunghai University was subsidized by the Youth Development Administration under the Ministry of Education to provide career development services integrating resources from its alumni and mentors. The mentors shared their own work experiences to prepare students for realizing their dreams and increase the employability of those who would enter the job market soon.
Additionally, an event was organized to bring together the experts from the industry, parents of students, alumni and faculty members the Po-Ya School to explore career opportunities and build connections. Topics for group discussions and sharing included career development and employment. A myriad of workplace experiences and feedback were provided for students to expand their horizons for career opportunities. The sharing of younger mentors and experts were especially popular. For example, Chuang Cheng-Yen, a young alumnus of the school, had been engaged in the work of ecological tourism, teaching at primary schools, and diving coaching. He now runs 30M BAR in Hengchun and promotes environmental education by using ornaments polar bears and green sea turtles in his cocktails, successfully drawing people’s attention to global warming and marine pollution
