To expand multiple career channels for the youth in mapping their future, The Youth Development Administration (YDA) launched the subsidiary program to encourage NGO's (Non-Governmental Organizations) to arrange innovative career development activities that meet the youth’s current and future needs.
The Lukang Renaissance Association, a subsidiary of the Youth Development Administration established by the Ministry of Education in 2019, used the Fifth Lukang Arts Festival as a perfect backdrop to establish a relationship with local youths. The “Jin Chiou Chuang Sheng Shu” was launched as a means to react out to prospective students. The objective of the project was to advocate to the youth that there are great opportunities for them to pursue their ideal jobs in their hometown, instead of vacating to other cities.
By participating in this project, the local youth was able to gain valuable knowledge and unique experiences. The project was able to instill knowledge of the local careers available to them and how the impact they have on local communities. The program not only instilled knowledge through preliminary workshop programs, lectures, assisting curators and event planners, and attending hands on training, but also through collaboration with the local arts festival.
Xiao Pei Ying, a student from the Department of Architecture and Art Conservation at the National Taiwan University of Arts, took part as a hostess at the Jin Chiou Market. During her participation, she was given the opportunity to host the event. This position encourage Ms. Xiao to face different challenges by reaching out from her “comfort zone”, for example skill to maintain a lively atmosphere, which is not directly related from what she studied. She realized that she must be accustomed to many different aspects of event planning and hosting. She was able to gain valuable insight into the execution of a successful event and gave her a new understanding of the difficulty faced in related field. She will continue practicing on her event-planning skills so that she will have more chances to achieve her future career.
